Detention

What could a high school kid get detention for in US? And what sort of things would result in suspenion?
Any ideas would be helpful.

Skipping class, repeated tardiness, fighting, and cheating are a few, I think.

Well.. I suppose it's not so different from England.

Those were my favorites. Though setting fires and dropping explosives down toilets so it would blow the toilets off and flood the place had a discreet charm.

Actually, I didn't usually get detention so much as suspension or expulsion.

Hey, here's a real-life example.
Kid is eating lunch and the tough guy badgers him. He flips him off and gets slugged. Trying to stand up, he slips on a notebook and falls, breaking his cheekbone. By the time he lands a punch, teachers break it up.

The tough guy is suspended for a week, our hero gets a week of detention (in the real story, I got suspended too...after three days in a new school, a personal best).

He spends the detention period festering about getting clobbered (the broken cheek bone gives him a shiner so livid that his teachers allow him to wear sunglasses, usually against the rules)
He has a huge hard-on built up by the time he sees the kid in the halls a week later. He drops his books and heads for the tough guy. Who, when he sees him starts laughing and says, "Hey, amigo, did they kick you out, too?"
They end up becoming partners in crime.

My condolences. A town so dull it makes Swindon look good.

Those were the good old days. In this time, the kid wouldn't be sent to detention. He would be sent to Guantanamo Bay.

ive gotten suspended for using school software to rickroll everyone in the lab at the same time, pouring "just add water" mashed potatoes into a toilet, and taking off my shirt and running laps around the math office. i try.

you all seem to have had a very colourful time at school. it makes my school seem very dull. i was one of those annoying people who loved school and was the techers pet and i don't every remember doing anything wrong. guess that's why my MC's do to make up for the trouble i never caused.

cheers for the ideas guys.

And by the way i agree weston is very dull place although i actually live in north worle, which is a slight improvement (only slight)

take care

Love the potatoes thing. Never thought of that one. The software thing is inspirational.

You're a hero to rotten black sheep kids everywhere.

Potatoes, awesome! I may just try it.

Also, suspension could be smoking on school grounds and pulling fire alarms. Don't forget the good old joint either.

ooh ooh, or writing in white paint on the turf "EAT PUSSY"
heh

edit: anything "just add water" should do as long as it doesnt require hot water. the nastier and harder to flush the better.

On a more serious note, you can earn consequences in many schools for backtalk, refusing the request of an administrator/staff member, foul langugae...

I must say Mike, that I have several friends who did not get much more than a short-term suspension for toilet-bombs. People get in more touble for fighting and food fights almost.
