World War II: Music, Movies and American Influence

So, I'm writing a novel set in World War II and in France.

What I'm havig difficulty with is actually find out what influenced French movies and music of the particular time period, such as movie stars, musicians, what French movies where there etc, and also what type of influence did America have on France during this time?
For instance, was Hollywood big in France as it is now, with stars such as Greta Garbo. Was the big band and swing and Glenn Miller popular?

I was wondering if anyone knew of any sources of information of this topic, or could point me in the right direction. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

There are a few ways that you could approach this. First, you could, if you are in high school that is, go up to a French Teacher and ask them if you can come in some time during study hall, or before or after school and ask them. Now, if you aren't in school, then I nice second place to look for your answers is your local library. Ask the people there for books and anything that has to do with France and World War 2 and their culture during that period.

I think that that's about all of the ideas I can give you for finding your answers.

Hope this helped.

The story of France during WW2, needs to incorporate the story of Germany at that time too, as well as the exiled French in the UK. There are plenty of factual history books for the period, but to find more on your specific topics you would need to read translated novels for that time.

I don't think there would be any American influence during that time, they were not operating in that theater (not until the very end), possibly with the exception of the Glenn Miller band's music being played, which was very popular in England and Germany too.
