Cold War

I need a little bit of help with some background stuff but otherwise I'm fine. I'd like to know where most of the cold war forces were stationed and maybe any cases of manned spy planes being cpatured by either side. thanks in advance

That actually is a lot of information you are asking for. Considering that both countries (US and USSR) both have well over a million troops. Also, that information may still be classified. Both the US and Russia have only just begun declassifying material from the cold war era, and they have only scratched the surface. Your best bet might be to just write a historical fiction piece that captures the essence of the era and just makes everything else up.
