Latin Experts Wanted
I need a Latin expert to tell me how to join two Latin words together in a possessive. The words are "gryllus" and "Dominus" and they are joined together in what is translated as, "The Master's crickets."
All you Latin gurus: GO!
And thank you for your time.
Lost.

Should be "Gryllus Domini," Nominative + Genitive

Can't say I know anything about Latin but i think this is the best use of the research board i've ever seen. Well done.

I think it's amazing that a Latin question showed up while I was literally right in the middle of my Latin studies (see sig.)
Also I think I deserve mad props for getting the answer within 20 minutes.

You're studying LATIN, Clance? Wow. I wouldn't attempt that and I live in Latin America.

Eh, I pretty much study everything. We'll see if I ever get around to Latin again.
It's on my list of things to learn before I die though.
(And lol Latin America Dan Quayle joke.)
FYI, my sig says: "and what use is a book, thought Alice, with no pictures or conversations?"

Um, yeah. The genitive case ending of Dominus is pretty well known, because it's the second half of Anno Domini: "the year of our Lord."
All I had to do was work out the nominative ending for "gryllus" and that was it. (Turns out that IS the nominative endine, but I had to check to be sure.)

Latin's a great foundation for the use of language. I did it to A-level in England and it helped me understand the beauty and construction of words in several different languages...
