A question about Sumerian/Akkadian texts
Hi,
I have a question about the writings of Sumer.
My question is this: does anyone know if there are any translated texts referring to the sleep cycles and/or perception of time of the 'gods' of Sumer? I know it seems like a strange question, but it's a question I really need an answer to for my book. The texts often talked of these 'gods' as though they lived much as humanity did, and still does. Except for the fact that they supposedly lived for thousands and thousands of years. I'm simply trying to find out if they also stayed active—and slept—for longer periods of time, or if they were simply depicted as living through the same schedule as us. Anyway, if anyone knows the answer—or where a good depository of translated, online Sumerian or Akkadian texts is—I would be very glad to hear about it.
Thanks in advance,
Tim
