Urban myths and legends

I'm thinking about writing a novel based somewhat around urban myths and legends and want to know about as many as possible. If you know one you like, please post it here. It doesn't matter if it's supernatural or not, as long as it's spooky. And btw, I say "myths and legends" as a proper urban legend "happened to a friend of a friend of mine", but myths happens to a random person I don't even know.

A few examples:
* A woman is babysitting for a neighbor when the phone rings. A guy in the other end starts talking to her about things he wants to do to her and so on. She of course hangs up, but a few minutes later he calls again. He seems to know quite a few details about her like her name, and scarily even what she's wearing. She eventually ask the cops to trace the call, and it turns out the phonecall came from within the house...

* A guy picks up a female hitchhiker a rainy night, and they start talking about everything and nothing like friends do. The next morning, he notice she left her jacket in his car and goes to her house to return it. The problem is an old woman opens the door and say the woman who owned the jacket has been dead for more than fifty years...

Anyone know other urban myths and legends like these? The scarier the better.

Google away.

Snopes.com has quite a collection, including a lot of debunked stuff.

I never could figure out why they call this "urban" legends.

Because the existence of them in the modern world was first noticed in an urban environment by a university student working as a hospital porter who realised sisters on A&E from different shifts were telling him the same story and attributing it to different scources, when he checked out sisters in other hospital A&E departments he found the same stories.
Well that's the legend anyway.
