La Vey was a fake publicity whore.
You want creepy, I'd suggest Aleister Crowley.
Maybe you should consider some other evil cult. It's pretty hard to take Satanism seriously.

the star of david was always six pointed.
the seal of jerluselum was a penagram i think.
the two triangles of the star of david are supposed to represent heaven and earth, or male and female.
choice which ever one you like, the only one who really knows is the creator David himself. and he is long dead and dusted.

Go to www.JoyofSatan.com I know it sounds bad but I just found it when I googled. The site describes Spiritual Satanism which is a religion, it is quite interesting, however I am not a satanist.

By the way, I am a Davinci Code nut job as well. I can't get enough of the theories surrounding the Holy Grail.
Using pentagrams to scare Christians is, I think, a bad stereotype of your typical Hollywood Satanists.

Crowley "revived" Baphomet in the poplular occultism of his time, claiming that his was the idol or "god" worshipped by the Knights Tempar, Knights of Malta and Knights of St. John, all of who were accuded of witchcraft and were either exiled or executed. These are all orders of modern freemasonry. It cannot be claimed that the idea was stolen from Wicca as in its modern form, which has various "demoninations" or schools, didn't really emerge until the 1950s when it was widely promoted by Gerald Gardner. Gardner claimed to have met a real coven in England and been initiated by them in the 1930s. It is generally thought that he devised most of the rituals himself. Gardner also had a great deal of input from Aleister Crowley.

In Spiritual Saitanism they believe Lucifer or one of his other names is the true god. Satan means the enemy in Hebrew

If you want to be accurate, satan means "accuser" in Hebrew

What abbsinthe likely refers to is that most people calling themselves satanists don't worship the Devil. They simply see him as a symbol of their own inner strength (something like that any way) and their kind of satanism is more like a philosophy then a religion.

Well actually what I have observed in looking into this is that they aren't "evil" They don't worship an evil god they worship a god they believe is the true creator but has been put down. They believe Christians are changing history to make the selves seem better.
However this is only in Spiritual Saitanism which is on its own an independent religeon. Also, they say this religeon began thousands of years ago before christians.
Do I believe this? Eh I don't know. However to get involved in the religion you must show true trust to god (Lucifer) by pricking the tip of your finger and writing a note to god (Lucifer) in the blood, I forget what else.
And no I'm not Saitinist, I guess I just believe in a god.

People interested in worshipping someone should make sure they know who they're dealing with. The links between Lucifer the rebellious angel and Satan the personification of evil are pretty thin. The story about Lucifer is pretty cool (it takes guts to rebel against someone who's omnipotent) but satanists looking for a god should probably stick to calling him Satan, just to be sure.
