What Does a Bomb Disposal Unit Sound Like?

I'm writing a humorous cozy and in one scene a suspicious package is found on a Navy base. Of course they don’t want to take any chances and end up “rendering safe” an insulated lunch bag containing someone’s Pastrami sandwich.
I have heard of two types of bomb disposal units, one uses high-pressure water and the other uses a shotgun shell. I imagine that the shotgun-shell type sounds like a firecracker going off inside a metal garbage can, but what would the high-pressure water type sound like.

Some sites follow that you could contact. Though I can't say if they'll answer, it's worth a shot.

Depends on how good they are. If they suck, they sound like

BOOM!

In the UK it's usually a shotgun shell fired from a remote control robot that will be used to destroy the detonating device (often a mobile phone these days) without detonating the main charge. I've seen the same device in use in the US in Phoenix the day after 9/11 - it was designed for use in Northern Ireland, and the design hasn't changed much.
