Lose nonchalantly, it doesn't fit with the way a bear moves, and it's one word too many anyway. Also find a different word for 'mosey' - it doesn't look right (to me).

warning about what?... your stupid lies are not only getting old, lin, they're now libelous!... and no, i'm not gonna sue, 'cause our courts have better things to do, but i am going to start putting paid to your spiteful spewings...

does the fact that thousands of aspiring writers come to me for help [and GET it] year after year rankle?... are you envious of someone so many others keep coming to for help, because you don't and can't give any?... or are you just an old never-was who'd love to be even a has-been, who's so bitter at never having succeeded at anything that you have to try to tear down someone who's only aim in life is to help others freely, for nothing in return--not even thanks expected or needed?... does that frost you so much that you have to keep up this nonsensical vendetta?...

i can prove how many people i've helped and am helping right now, as we speak/type... how many have you helped this week?... today?... in the past year?... 5 years?... how many come back to you for weeks and months and years for more help with new stuff, being so satisfied with the first bits?... how many become dear and lasting friends, as a result of your helping them for nothing?... any?

this isn't a contest for me... if you have helped others for absolutely no personal gain of any kind, then i'm glad for them and for you... it doesn't matter if you can't match my numbers or if you can exceed them... what does matter is that i'm only here to help people... period... why are you here?... only to try to keep me from doing that?... if so, you're failing... new ones come to me every day from both places we're mutual members, in spite of the scheiss you post about me there and here... so, you're a failure, lin... in that, at least... why don't you try doing something you can succeed at, instead?... like being kind and supportive to new writers, instead of rude and snide and putting them down?...

i'm tired of you, old man... and tired of your childish nonsense... be nice to everyone here, or go home and try to figure out why you're so mean!

ps: mike has a point re 'nonchalantly' and 'mosey' being a bit too casual... while a bear's shuffling along nosing for delectables might appear to be 'nonchalant' to us humans, he's not really being that, as he's got to eat to live... and knows it!

be nice, mike!... ngoc happens to be vietnamese and even though his english isn't as good as ours, his heart is pure and i've been helping him translate some of his qing master's teachings, which we all could benefit from, imo...

i felt stupid after letting lin get to me and posting that riposte and asked nogoc if i should have just continued to let lin do his silly stuff and gone on ignoring it... the answer of course was 'yes' as i figured it would be...

having seen what i posted and what motivated it, ngoc then added his own few words [which aren't all that poorly said!]... i didn't think you, of all people would mock anyone for not having perfect english, when they clearly have a foreign name and could be assumed [or at least thought] to not be fluent... we get lots of people here who struggle to improve their second or fourth language, so i'm disappointed to see you put someone down so cruelly without finding out the circumstances... i'll just hope you posted that without thinking [much as i did above], and didn't mean to be mean...

Maia, there's nothing in his name to suggest he's foreign (hey, I'm English - does that make me foreign, or you?) more than anyone else here with a made-up name. I could, I guess, equally assume that Lin was Chinese, Shawn a sheep, German Voodoo an Aryan Haitian, and Bobo the Goat not entirely human.

I have no beef with the guy personally, but to join a forum just so his first post can be an insult is pretty dumb. Had it been anyone else you would have been the first, judging by other posts, to chide him and tell him to go introduce himself.

Yes, Lin's comment was a little strong (although not libellous) and your response similarly ill-advised, but hey, it's all part of life's rich tapestry. We all try to help and advise in whatever way we can, but it's a subjective business and we're never all going to see eye to eye; you and Lin are going to have to agree to differ. I've known you a lot longer than Lin has, and so I know that on the whole you give good advice and I almost invariably concur. Given time and a lessening of antagonism on both sides I'm sure Lin will see this for himself. Equally, once things calm down I'm sure you'll acknowledge that his abrasive side is matched by a sense of humour and a lot of knowledge.

On the plus side, the OP is improving his work, which is what the thread's about.
