Nose feeling word

I'm looking for a word that means that feeling you get when someone punches you in the nose. It's that feeling that's sort of worse than regular pain because it somehow puts a stop to everything else in your head for a moment, do i make sense?
I'm sure i've heard a specific word for this but can't remember what it was. I've tried the OED but without knowing what the word is it's a bit useless.
Any ideas?

I don't think there is a word for it, but you know what... writers don't need words for that type of thing because they can describe them so well that the reader feels the pain right along with the character.

Hey. Try punching yourself in the nose, then write down the first thought you have.

legal disclaimer- I'd advise against it.

Is it pain you thinking of or the feeling of not being able to breathe? I tend to think of the word "suffocation" when I pinch my nose. Either that or "blocked up" ...

I love this thread! "A Nose Feeling Word" is a hoot of a thread title. If only people would title their stories so engagingly.

"Paralyzing" springs to mind...then describe a bit more if you need to. Don't make it harder than what it is!

Wow, thanks everyone! German and Kimba, i appreciate the punching/pinching very much! Thinking : arresting, blurring or similar. That feeling makes me think of the snow channel on tv, white noise isn't it?

If you're looking for a medical word, "hypotensive" might be the right one. Hypotension refers to the drop in blood pressure which sort of explains the snowy feeling or dizziness you described. I'm not sure if "hypotensive" is the right word but it's fairly close though.
