A minor character dies of crack overdose, so any information on it would be much appreciated.

How do you smoke crack? Can it cause severe enough hypertension to be fatal? How much would it take to kill you? What would the phyisical symptoms be?

Crack is smoked through a little pipe, generally. These pipes are made, to the best of my knowledge, out of glass and steel, or just glass.

It can be fatal, with heart attacks and brain seizures included among the causes of death associated with crack. The amount that would kill you is less predictable than with heroin, but you probably wouldn't need to smoke a very large amount to be at risk, particularly if you had other heart problems.

To answer a question that you didn't ask, but which is relevant, nobody ever gets into crack use without a long history of pills, uppers, downers, coke, and most likely a reckless streak a mile long. Which you probably already knew, but just so that it's been said.

Cardboard would burn. Steel wool or or old brillow pad is usually used with a piece of glass tubing.

Also, fingertips usually develop thick callouses (sp?) from hold the hot glass tube and a miniature butaine torch.

Meth can be smoked in a similar fashion. You can also inject meth, eat it, snort it, etc.

considering the story he toold me about it afterwards, i doubt he was in his right mind.

You buy a small, plastic (quarter) bottle of Bacardi, or something similar, drink the contents, and burn a hole in the side of it with a lit cigarette. You then put some silver foil over the top of the open bottle and pierce it with a pin. You then place a rock of crack cocaine on the top.

You then light the rock and the plastic bottle will fill with a grey smoke. You will have placed a straw through the burnt hole, from which you now inhale the grey fumes.

You will experience almost instant euphoria. To make the precious fumes go further, you will probably have your partner at your side and give them a blow-back, i.e. you breathe the fumes into them and they will be happy too, for half the price. It will be their turn first, next.

Within a few days you will be addicted to crack cocaine. You will not be able to function without an ever-increasing supply, and you will sell your soul to get it.

You will become very ill, with horrible leg cramps, illusions and full blown mental illness. Within a very few years, or much less. you will be dead. It will be an extremely unpleasant death.
