Research on the Amazon Rainforest- Architecture Possibilities

A big piece of my novel is set in the Amazon with guerilla-type fighters and I need to know about the kind of buildings they could have and whether there's a possibility some buildings could be built underground despite the Amazon's wet season ect....

Anyone have an ideas on where I can look? I'm hopeless with research

With over a billion acres, there's bound to be at least a few spots where underground structures can be built, for any season.

"the forest itself occupies some 5.5 million square kilometers, located within nine nations"
-Wikipedia

If they can build mines and hydro electric power stations there, I'd think just about anything goes. Engineers can be pretty crafty.
