Literacy Rates

I'm writing an essay and I have this assumption that literacy rates and interest books are declining to support this point I'm making.

But I want to double-check this with you guys. I used the search engine to look for this information, but the best I got was America's Most Literate Cities (http://www.ccsu.edu/AMLC06/Default.htm).

Can anyone confirm if my assumption is true and if so, back it up with evidence?

Thanks a lot!

1) The link doesn't work (although that might just be me...we've already established in the picture wars thread that my computer is pretty much screwed).

2) What is your assumption?

you really should do your own research on this... it's not that hard... i just googled for 'is literacy on the decline in america?' and got over a million hits, the first page of which contains much of value, in re answering your question... see for yourself:

Ah thanks mammamaia~

Never knew being more specific in a search engine can help. Being in a question...perhaps Jeeves can help me as well... ^_^

Banzai. My assumption is that America's literacy rates and people's interest in books are declining because of the movies, books, and Internet. I got confused, wondering if I have to go out of my way to prove if this assumption is true...but the least I can do is make sure it's true by looking it up.
