FBI and Homicide Investigations
Would the FBI investigate a case of serial murder in NYC? The Bureau will only provide assistance to local law enforcement agencies if they request it. Given the NYPD's resources, I'm not sure that they would. But are there special circumstances that would call for federal assistance? (say, a victim was found across state lines in NJ, but kept an address in Brooklyn). If so, at what point in the investigation would the Bureau become involved?
