Birthday Presents Questions

Hey,

In a teen fantasy novel I'm writing there is a birthday for one of the characters. Does anyone have any ideas what all the other characters could give her?
The thing is she's a ten year old princess and she could afford anything.

You could use this opportunity to develop the culture of the race in your fantasy story; does the race value gems or jewels? Do they prize art - sculptures, paintings, weavings, wood carvings, furniture, etc.?
I would suggest dresses/clothes, jewelry, or maybe a pet animal, for a young princess; those just sound like princess-ish gifts.

how can we answer that, without knowing who the other characters are?... for instance, if they're wizards or fairies or other magical creatures, they'd be capable of giving her things 'normal' folks couldn't... if they're princes, they can afford to give her things peasants can't... and so on... so, till you tell us who/what the others are, no one can really give you a usable answer...

Buying something for yourself and having someone give you the same thing as a present are not really the same, especially for a female, even a young one.

What does she value? What are her likes and dislikes? Are these well known? Who will be giving the presents? What can they afford? Why would they be giving her a present (other than that they've been invited to a party). Can they afford what they'd like to give? Will she know that some can't afford expensive presents, while to others cost doesn't mean a thing? And a host of other questions that are not at the top of my mind at the moment.

Try http://rinkworks.com/brainfood/riddles.shtml for ideas, and present them in sphinx-like riddles. Is a corner of her room too cold and dark? Someone asks riddle #9, and gives her some. A son of a conqueror asks #13, and tells of a great one in the family lands that he will name in her honor.

If there's a fantasy story element to be introduced (a magic ring, etc.) then that can be given by someone in her family, perhaps with #31.

Or, if an evil somebody is going to crash the party with a threat for later chapters, let them ask http://rec-puzzles.org/riddles.html , riddle #1. Mwahaha!
