Villain Names...
Gosh, I hate coming up with names. I need a name for my "villain" I hate him, but I love him, lol. So I've been filling in his name with Sloane, but I feel as though he needs his own name now. Any ideas? It's a medievial fantasy type thing...

Ah theres a villains name forum at least twice a week. I was the creator of one just last week. I would recommend going on a name list online. That way you will know exactly what you want. Theres plenty of medieval name list websites so it shouldnt be much trouble.
If not, pick a word, then reverse it and see what you get.

You could also look for a name generator. Seventhsanctum.com has a name generator that includes evil sounding names. If nothing else it is fun.

I didnt mention name generators because they suck ass. Try one if you want and prepare to be sorely disappointed. They sure do produce some...rubbish.

I try to give my villains a name that fits their character. Like in my novel "Diamonds for the Devil" there's a character, a villain whose face is scarred, so I called him "Scarron" (the novel is set in 18th century Paris).

Alternately, you can give him a completely random and unexpected name, like Count Malicious Backstabbing Whoremonger or Lord Sociopath or The Really Scary Caped Man With The Really Scary Cape.

(Please note that I'm half-unconscious while writing this. I'll probably wake up later and regret making this post. Sorry.)

I like the names in Harry Potter. JK Rowling is very skilled at using the effects of sounds, and bits of latin to make cool names. Dumbledore and Hagrid are names that really conjur up the character. The village Harry lives in is Little Whining. Hermione is a name I have only ever seen in Shakespeares the Winters Tale... which kind of fits with her being well read.
I don't like names that are excessively alien - Thrall the crusher of small planets - and other such add on titles are best avoided. That being said, I love star wars and look how bad the names are in that. Darth in-vader, in-sidious and tyranosaurus darth. But then, who said Star Wars was well written...People will forgive the worst names if your fast enough with the action. Volde-death is hardly inspiring...

I just name my villany characters after various forum-goers of random sites. A nice trip through the Internet might dig up some names.

Re: Villian names
You could also go the opposite direction and give the character a name that means "goodness" or "conquers evil."

I like Bhoutros. That said, some Latin Alternatives:
Darkness - Caliga
Harbinger: praenuntius (I'd go with Praetius)
Huge sword (couldn't resist): ingens mucro
Bringer of Darkness - Addo Obscuruum
Anagram generator: Duo Cob'us
Huge sword in turkish: Iri kilic
