Need help with a name...
I'm writing a story about a young boy and girl who are stuck in a never-ending forest. In it they meet a character called the Forest Spirit. She basically watches over the forests and all that.
I'm stuck for a name to give her and I was wondering if anyone could help me out?
I dont want to just make something up. I like there to be some relevance to a mythical creature or thing that might be found in some mythology. I thought of calling her Napaea, but then I thought no, and then I thought maybe Houri...I need something that has something to do with the forest.
thanks

hmm
Artemis, Diana and Freya...all nice names. I like Freya andhave considered it, but in mythology isnt she the goddess of love and fecundicity? The character really needs to have a name that has strong ties to forests and woods.
It looks like i might have to just create something myself.
any other suggestions though?
thanks

blue... i'm puzzled by this one:
Caley or Cailley: (French) 'from the forest'
french for 'forest' is 'foret' and neither of those names have french spelling, so where did you find them and what makes you think they mean 'from the forest' which would be 'de la foret' in french?

I think maybe Circe would fit the bill. From the Argonauts story on the island where she turned men into animals. Has both the forst & a magic link.
