How much perssure does it take to crush a human skull.
I need to know for a short story, I want to get just to the point before the actual crack... gruesome yeah but I gotta know.

All I know is that the human skull is able to withstand more pounds per square inch of pressure than steel.

Oops I mean... oh.
More pounds per square inch than steel?... that sounds wrong.
My delema is that anatomy sites done incluse such information such as strength of certian bones... I guess I could go to a medical forum and ask there but before I did that I thought I should try here frist...

The human cranium has a compressive strength of 5,000 to 31,000 psi (depending on the skull). It can have a tensile strength of up to 10,000 psi.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the compressive and tensile strength of a sphere of steel the same thickness as the human skull. I do remember reading in Discover Magazine that the cranium is indeed stronger than steel in compressive strength, though (not tensile—my mistake). It was years ago though and I have no idea which one...

Yes, but with the right amount of force applied in the right place, it can only take 15 lbs per in2
