Towns and Shires in Regency England??

Does anyone know where I can find out information about existing towns and shires in England. Internet or otherwise??

That's a pretty broad request. Could you be more specific -- are you looking for names, locations, sizes? Or more detailed info?

Either way, there's a lot there. You might try looking up some British tourist websites for interesting snippets of info. Of if it's just geographic details you need, sites like www.multimap.co.uk will give you a detailed street map of the country.

I should have made it more clear... I am after towns and shires that existed before between 1700-1815... any towns and information on how they might have looked at the turn of the century The Regency period(1800)

Once you pick your general location, I have a partial list (location names A-R only) of the "cities, boroughs, market-towns and remarkable villages" in England and Wales c1800, their distance from London and the day of their weekly market.
