MI5 and MI6 tecnical info .... ?
My book has some MI5 and MI6 involvement.
Would anyone have any suggestions of a good book or other source to get that would explore the inner workings and technical workings and jargon of these organisations.... ?
there are loads of MI5 books on Amazon... but most are books about specific cases or historical..
Much obliged y'all

Well, off the top of my head, the BBC's ' Spooks' would be a reasonable starting point. Having never been a government agent, I can't verify its authenticity, but I'm fairly sure they pulled in a lot of research from ex-agents.
The website alone should offer up some useful links if you don't fancy watching an entire series, of course.

Good suggestion.... actually I am watching it for exactly that reason already but it is limited in it's exposition of the organisation structure etc.
Thanks again.

You might find that the books you've seen on Amazon will be useful, because while they talk about specific cases, they will discuss the organisation's reaction to those cases, whihc will oputline their internal procedures and jargon.
Another option is to see if there is a public relations department to MI5. I'm not sure if there would be, or if MI5 is part of another government department that will have some PR representation. Contact them and advise you're writing a book that discusses their organisation, and you'd like it to represent the department with some credability. They will either agree to meet you for an interview, where you can ask whatever questions you want, or, of you're really lucky, they'll give you a contact who you will be able to refer to when you have a question.
This would probably be a lot easier if you had been previously published and had an agent making the contacts for you, but what are you going to do?
For example, the Australian equivalent to MI5 would probably be out Tactical Response Group, or the Organised Crime Taskforce or something like that. Maybe the Australian Federal Police. Whoever it is they are a part of the Police Department, who definitely have public relations officers.
Definitely go to the horse's mouth at some point in the process, either during the first drafting, or just prior to submission.

David Shayler has broken the Official Secrets act enough times. I'm pretty sure that there's a lot of information associated with him.

here's a link for ya
Guten tag. Here's a pretty good link for some information on MI5. http://www.mi5.gov.uk/ Although it doesn't give you the real inside scoop that a public relations officer might, but it's a good start. Hope it helps you.
Cheers.

Thanks again guys ( apols for delay - was away on business trip all December)
I have done a lot of Googling and library searching but not everything in the world is on the web just yet and I wondered if members had specific books in their records.
I'll follow up on all the great advice - thanks for everyone's time !!
