The Army

I was wondering exactly what the training process is when you join the army as an ordinary infantry man, and what the shower, bathroom, and sleeping facilities are typically like in on-american-soil training camps.

If anyone could direct me to a site or recommend a book to me, the help would be appreciated.

Talia_Brie is an unknown quantity at this point
As I understand it the facilities etc are the same on and off America. The US Army favours uniformity above all else.

There's a book by Lee Child about his main character Jack Reacher. It's either his last book, or the one immediately prior. This book is set when Reacher was still an Army MP, and provides a lot of info on the base and facilities.

Otherwise contact a recruiting centre and they should be able to answer your questions.

I just did a search. The book is called The Enemy, and it is the most recent one.

Ah, thanks a lot

I'll make sure to check those two books out.

Americans only train in the US, Infantry in particular only trains at Ft. Benning, Georgia. I must admit I am a little wary about giving too much info here, so you might want to find a book and read it. You can watch Full Metal Jacket and Biloxi Blues to get teh gist of it, they are very similiar today except for the uniforms.

Okay, thanks a lot. I know that they only train here, I've already read quite a few books on the army and I eat that type of stuff up. What I meant was American training camps, as opposed to foriegn ones. Probably should have made myself clear . . . . Yeah but thanks though. I'll have to watch those.
