Okay, for my story one of the main characters is dependant on drugs (aka drug addict) and i was wondering if anybody could give me some info about drugs. Thanx.

What sort of info? about dealers, buying drugs, or drugs them selfs, and their effects and stuff?

You have to be a lot more specific than that. With my job and all I think I can give you some good info. But...I am a little wary about speaking candidly about drugs, so be VERY specific about what you need for your character. Plus, how old are you?

Um I guess I need info on the basics of the hard stuff, coke, extasy, pot, lsd etc. The main character in my story is a drug addict and I need to know what this stuff looks like, how somebody behaves when they are on it, when they are addicted to it, how they get it, etc.

I am 23.

Where will your story be set? That might make a difference when it comes to how you get hold of the drugs. Here where I live quite a few people start dealing drugs at 12 or 13 and stop at 16. Most dealers just buy their wares of some other dealer, who buys it from someone else and so on...
Other start at 18...
These are two totally different groups. The kids do it for fun and to be cool, but often aren't really addicted. They often stop too, because of bad experiences or they soon get the hang of it, and work out how much to take and when not to take any and so on. There are a few who start young and never get the hang of it though, they end up dropping out of school and living off their boyfriend's money and just totally loose contact with reality because they are always high and can't think of anything else except where to get their drugs from. These are the sad cases and it seems that's where your character belongs.
The ones who start later often make many mistakes at first, because others have all started earlier and they don't want to ask for help and just try to prove to everyone they can handle drugs on their own and get them themselves. They normally make a total mess of everything, but also work things out in the end. They normally don't end up really addicted (as in not able to think of anything else except drugs). Drugs are just recreation for them. They also end up paying higher prices cause they often aren't close friends of drug dealers.
Normally if you want to buy drugs you just go to one of the local dealers (as your character is a drug addict he'll know who to go to, who has the best stuff and so on). Your next trip is just a text message away... The internet is a bad place to buy stuff, you just get caught then (well often you do, only people with no idea buy of the internet really). If you just wear certain clothes or hang around certain places you're bound to be offered drugs too. In some places though you have to be careful, because they may be policemen in disguise, sometimes even experienced drug users fall for those disguises when they are in a foreign city.

It's legal to smoke dope here in small quantities, but the other drugs are forbidden.

But all this might be different in another city or country. If it's set in large city there is no way anyone can know most of the drug dealers or know about all the drugs traffic, but in a small community you'll have a group of people operating most things. So don't know if that was any help at all.
