Death

This is kind of similar to Sethcoldcry's topic, but it's different, which is why I made a separate thread . I'm going to apologize now because this is a pretty morbid request, but it's REALLY important and I'd greatly appreciate any information at all.

In the story I'm working on, two of my major characters are reunited after a horrific argument by the death of another character. As the deathbed scene is really important, I want to make it as realistic as possible, and I was wondering if anyone would mind telling me their experiences at someone's deathbed. What I have now really sounds like Hollywood schmaltz (not that there's anything wrong with Hollywood schmaltz, it's just not what I'm looking for in my story), so I'm trying to improve on that. Once again, I'd be really grateful for any kind of information. If you don't feel comfortable posting on this thread, feel free to PM or email me. Also, what I've written of the scene is available upon request if you'd rather read what I have before contacting me with info. Thanks in advance!

hey...i'll add my experience...as long as we get to read the story when you're finished .not that i have to say much.i guess it kinda depends on how the character dies.as in what disease etc.ive had my own experience, but i'll write here somewhat generally(feels better).
what made an impression on me is the way people look, when in their deathbed.although you EXPECT them to look pale, and weak, it still gets you when you first laid eyes on them.also, if the person is strong enough to speak to you ,etc its even worse, since you know he is going to die.and you wonder how they feel about it.and if they understand that they are going to die.besides that, the feeling of importance is there...since you know that when he is gone, these are the last moments you\ll have with him......anyway, im not so good at this, so i'll end here.hope i was in the least helpful.

You definitely were helpful- thanks! Oh, and I'm not completely sure how he'll die (I write my stories in disjointed segments, which is why I don't know how he dies even though I've already outlined his death scene). . . I think it might be from either a gunshot wound or a suicide attempt. Yeah . . . this guy won't have a very happy life. And don't worry, you'll get to read the story
