Death, dying, major injured etc.
I need info on how someone feels when they're close to death (of course you didn't die if you can reply to my thread but you know what I mean) or have major injuries etc. Not just the pain but how you feel. Anything like that. If you've ever been badly injured and/or close to death and/or thought you were gonna die I'd like to know how you felt. There's often a lot of death in my stories. Real examples would help.
Thanks.

hello
hello there...interesting topic mate! ive got a small pdf file, which talks about this kind of thing(originally created for an RPG), from someone who worked as a medic, so i guess it pretty accurate.if you want to have it, just drop me a line, and your email address.
ive also been in an accident, but i wasnt really hurt, so i cant say much.but the so cliched ''it all happened in a flash'' is pretty god damn accurate if you ask me...lol

Hi Seth, well that's a tough one to ask in a way because you never really know if you were dying or if the spirits were just coming through on your end to warn you. When I was young I had a freak accident, I can't remember all the details. But anyhow, I had been poisoned, and when I was in my state of numbness I saw Christ, at least I thought it was Christ. Quite a strange experience. He was very beautiful and the whole light and scenery around him was so peaceful. He was holding my hand, but then I got scared, pulled away and woke up. That's when I puked all the bad stuff out. So I really don't know if you could call that a near death experience ?
Best of luck in your search

For a good reference I would recommend reading Tolstoy's "The death of Ivan Ilych". You can never go wrong with the masters.

I have been clinically dead and close to it a few times in my life, the first was when I was born. I had a heart attack as soon as they pulled me out, that's how they knew I had a murmoured heart. When I was about 3 I drank some acid in a doctor's surgery and it ate away at my throat, stomach, face, gums, tongue, etc, the fumes stuffed my lungs too. I almost died from that and as a result of it. Afterwards while I was still healing I was exceptionally prone to infections, which I got alot of, almost died a few times then as well. I suffered from asthma, croup(sp?) and bronchitus growing up and had a few really really bad asthma attacks that almost sent me off. Over the years I've had a couple more heart attacks, one of which stopped me breathing and my pulse. I cannot remember the earlier things, how I felt, what it felt like, guess I shut it out because I can remember stuff before then. When I had my last heart attack that stopped my pulse and breathing I was in alot of pain, couldn't sit up properly and had great arcs of blinding hurt ripping up my arm and into my chest. It was a sort of pulsing pain though rather than constant. I could actually see the papatations of my heart beating erratically through the skin of my chest and it felt like a knife plunging into it. Strangly though I felt calm and after a while as I started slipping the pain became tolerable. I sort of closed my eyes and it was like I fell asleep. I opened my eyes a little while later to my friend who was there at the time and he still swears to this day that he checked for a pulse and breathing for about 1-2 mins and then I just sort of snapped back to life. I had a throbbing headache after I opened my eyes and it felt just like waking up. I don't remember anything that happened in those few minutes or even if I had been dead or just so close to it that it seemed I was. Scared the hell out of my friend though.

Wow. Very vivid description. Definitely copying that down for future reference.
Thank you for sharing, Dragonscales. That can't be easy.

lol shit happens, I'm still kickin and only have a minor scar under my chin from the acid. I was pretty lucky though, my teeth were falling out of the gums and yet my teeth are perfect now, no braces or anything. I shouldn't be able to grow a beard either yet I can. My throat is smaller than it should be as a result though and I have scars at the back of my mouth. My lungs ain't that crash hot either but hell, at least they work
After I swallowed it the doctor whos surgery it was poured milk down my throat only to find out afterwards that he should have used water. Milk induces vomiting, something that isn't exactly desirable when your stomach is being eaten away. Needless to say, I began hurling up chunks of blood and flesh from my stomach, was lucky I didn't spew the whole thing up. I was taken to hospital, Mum had to hold my teeth in my gums on the way. All down my chin and neck was dissolving, my tongue, lips and gums were also in bad shape by then. The fumes had burnt away at my lungs as well as some of the acid dripping onto my chest, I still have a very small scar there too. Once I got to hospital they took x-rays and ultrasounds of my stomach and said I'd have to have an operation the next day. Next day came and the doctor had more ultrasounds and x-rays done just to be sure and said that a very thin layer of skin had formed over my stomach overnight, just enough so they didn't have to operate. I still had to stay in hospital though for weeks. Heh, my Mum still gets nightmares about my face melting, guess I probably would too if I could remember anything whatsoever about it.
