I'm writing a thesis paper comparing the Beat Generation and Lost Generation. It's for history class, so it's mostly about their causes and influences, but I'm going to write a page or two about the major artistic works from the periods. Literary-wise, I've got these going so far: The Great Gatsby and The Wasteland for the Lost Generation and On the Road and Howl for the Beat Generation. It's not too hard to agree that they're the most important poem and novel from their generation, I'd say.

Anyone have any suggestion for anything else?

Many history buffs now debate what made the best generation. From many standpoints, thier standing was just a matter of timming. The lost generation was too young for world war 1, and too old for world war 2, so thier activitees were on a far less global scale...
