Strife

I can't go into too much detail because I'm still at an early stage in the planning. Basically I'm writing a robot story, some old school ideas from Asimov will be in there as well as a lot of my own ideas and concepts. The aim is to make a series of short novella which will be fully illustrated.

What i want is absolutely anything you know about robots and AI. I have an extensive research already and I have contacted Prof. Kevin Warwick (guy with microchip implants and roboticist) about some of my issues. But I'm always looking for more inspiration so any websites, knowledge, films, pictures, art, articles or whatever that are relevant would be great.

This may not be useful to you, but if you haven't heard of UltraHAL (no, this is not an advertisement) it's worth a download (free version) to see how AI learns patterns and can understand the "IF -- THEN" approach of communication. It speaks aloud, as well. It may be more of a toy compared to some forms of AI, but it does have an actual learning ability and might help give you some additional insight.

The other half of the technology is STANNO's (Self Training Artificial Neural Network Objects) - found at http://www.imagination-engines.com/products/stanno.htm.

Stephen Thaler (the guy who invented both of those) eventually wants to create Data Bots based on both technologies that use the spare clock cycles of computers around the globe (much like SETI's project) to create an ultra-powerful artificial neural network called the World Brain.

And yes, this guy's work is legit. He has contracts with the military (for more mundane aspects of his work, such as automatic target recognition and facial recognition). His work is also the closest AI has come so far to what appears in sci-fi, so I think it's really worth a look.

And if you need help figuring out what he's talking about on the site, let me know. I've spent much of the past semester at school studying ANN's and other forms of AI. My final project was a paper and presentation oriented around this guy's work.

I don't know if I can be of help, but i'm working a robot story as well, but it will be fully fictional, so if you like any ideas that pop up from my mind, let me know.


Besides that I too need your help. I am currently working on a project that is a computer game resembling Orson Scott Card's game in Ender's Game. (The game of infinite possibilties.) We have a theory on how it will work, but we need people who can make it possible.
This game we are making will be able to give logical reply on character's action. There is full interaction with everything and everyone in the game. And the very best part is that the players will make the plot for new adventures, so it will always change.

So if you have any ideas on the matter, or comments, do tell.
