    Question about child pornography

Hi, Does anyone know the job title and/or department of a guy who would be responsible for looking through the files on a confiscated computer? and would this be the same person who would put them into categories of severity?
Also, how are the categories defined and how many are there? someone said five but I know no more than that?
This is for in the UK btw.
Im told that the dept is possibly the e-crime dept?

    TIA

    Arek

Most countries have something along a "cybercrimes division". They are basically tech experts who specialize in the recovery of deleted data, which still leaves a kind of "digital fingerprint" even if it has been manually deleted from a hard drive. They also are, for lack of a more professional term, hackers - Professionals who are trained to get through firewalls and encryption. They trace IP addresses, e-mails, any form of information sent etc., as for an official title, that one eludes me.

I think categories of severity depend on variables like the age of the victims, and quantity of material, and whether or not the offender has acted out anything other than simple "viewing pleasure".
