good it was hemingway - but not a typewriter, that came later if I remember correctly hemingway stood before a sort of lecturn thingy with paper and pencil (always a pencil).

I used a nice Cross pen for quite a while, the kind with an ink cartridge. Now, though, it's the laptop, plugged into the ergonomic keyboard when I can. I have little notebooks sprawled here and there, just in case. Then it's whatever writes.

TTQ: Most interpersonal conflicts, in my experience, can have their causes traced back to a lack of understanding because of poor, little or no communication, deliberate or not.

One of the many reasons for this is that people communicate in different ways. (and I'm not saying that swapping poetry is one ) However, by exploring poetry as a medium, it can expand my ability to comprehend and express myself in different ways, which will enable me to communicate more effectively with a broader range of people.

Hope that makes some sort of sense. Reading over it, sounds like a bit of a wank but oh well.

So, poetry is not communication, but you're here to improve your communication skills? Why do you write poetry then? What makes you write about your feelings? There's a disconnect between what you're saying here, and what you actually do on this site, and I'm trying to figure out why that exists.

Where did I say poetry was not communication?

Was this comment it?

If so, it was intended to mean that swapping poetry (like people swap emails) is not (generally speaking) a way that people communicate. Not that poetry is not communicating.

The disconnect is because I don't actually post all that I write here.

ms v is that a euphanism?

I used to search for the perfect pen/pencil and rough paper, the rougher the better - now the keyboard. With, same as J.R. plenty of scraps of paper and notebooks.

There are many reasons to write, I get it now Mine just happens to reflect Bukowski's.

I prefer a smooth, quick-drying ballpoint. Never pencil. I'm a lefty and I rub the graphite across the page when I use one.

Gel smears really easily. I'm no leftie, (but I am a leftist), but my handwriting is absolutely terrible and I smear all the time.

sometimes we want gel to smear (I think I better stop there)

But seriously the fact gel smears is why I like it. No one is worse than me at writing (I should have been a doctor) and the gel forces me to slow down and keep it legible.

Plus it skates across the page - writing is all about skating!
and being hung out to dry.....

that is definitely not a euphemism. i like my men tall with large hands. and that is a euphemism.

i'm thinking bukowski himself might be rather fond of this thread.

i hate gel. smearie smiearie smearie.

when i'm writing by hand, i'm usually doing it very fast because thoughts are flying and also fleeting.

pencil feels good. it's satisfying. that would be another non-euphemism.
