    Los Novios - Paz

    Stretched out on the grass,
    a boy and a girl.
    Savoring their oranges,
giving their kisses like waves exchanging foam.

    Stretched out on the beach,

    a boy and a girl.
    Savoring their limes,
giving their kisses like clouds exchanging foam.

    Stretched out underground,
    a boy and a girl.
    Saying nothing, never kissing,
    giving silence for silence.

Dear Mirror, I was wondering where this went. I like the Spanish title better. I still think it's a gem.

I think the poem is rather exotic and gives a rather nice message. I like the vivid imagery here using the fruits.

A delightful piece, originally written by Octavio Paz and translated into English by choirmaster Eric Whitacre as a chorale.

It would be nice if you posted the Spanish original along it. I've been translating Federico Garcia Lorca and Antonio Machado lately, and Octavio Paz is on my to-do list. The one you've posted here is a beautiful piece; thanks for sharing.

I love this poem - its seeming simplicity, imagery and sentiment. I just had to comment.

Paz is absolutely amazing. Sometimes I'll go ages reading nothing but Piedra del Sol over and over.
