    rover and spot

    Another 3 am wakeup call.
Movies in my head again, shake me awake
Old faces, living faces, dead faces; all a-jumble, again.
Why is it that their dogs always visit me, too?
Those calm hearted, sweet beasts, always hanging around the periphery.
I don't even remember this latest one's name, but there I am, marveling at it's longevity
when afterward, I realize it's been gone a long time now.
They must be really impressed by us to remain so loyal. And we, so fickle,
    take them so lightly.

Prose is so much fun to write because in my opinion there are no rules. You can simply write what you feel! I love this one as much as a I love my own dog. As you said, the best part about dogs is there unconditional love and loyalty.
