In Silence
In Silence
Who and Where am I
In this place I now reside,
a haunted shadow of my mind.
In silence.
Where simple bottles
and wrappers covered the ground,
bone now litters the walks.
Puddles of water replaced.
Blood seeps from the Earth,
flowing, forming
rivulets, then streams
finally a gushing river.
The stench encircles my soul.
In silence,
and it begins to rain tears.
I scream in protest
at the wrongness of this
Crisis of Blood and Bone,
In silence.
Is this where we are going
with smokestacks and cars?
My tears add to the rain,
this is where we are going.
Eyes haunt me through window panes
Turning away from my gaze
Houses painted in brown-red
Seem to frown down
Upon my face
In silence
Dressed in pure white and
Just beyond me, innocent
And tainted with my blood
