Pathway

Drowning in a drunkenness of memories
Consumed by something that felt real
A life that was struck down by lies
Hurt stabbing at the heart like a sword

A heart feeling empty from past loves
Not sure of which way to turn for healing
Hemorrhaging from each breathing pump
Where joy once blocked the breach

Knowing it is gone only hurts more
Each day turning into a struggle
Making life difficult to enjoy
Life seems empty since it left

Finding a way to go on is hard
A way that seems unreachable
Pathways seem to closed now
But are more open than ever

Drudging through the muck
Pain and sorrow weaken
Each step made in progress
Now a one or more paths are clear

dannyboy is an unknown quantity at this point
well done and

careful of using the same words

and that usually happens when we are telling the reader rather than using the image.

This is a great improvement on the last one. You need to remove the "a" in the last line. I echo what dannyboy says about reading. Here's a useful link to free downloads of poetry e-books, classical and modern.
