The Carpenter
I just love nightwish....
Who are you? Whose is the voice
That speaks inside my head?
Why do you insist on the choice
I make, question the life I’ve led?
Who are you to promise me salvation?
To give me the false hope of redemption?
And make me regret all the things I did
And even those I didn’t do. Who are you?
Savior, they called you, and called your name
Savior, a carpenter who died in shame?
I look around and I see a world in misery
Tell me then, why do you come to me?
Go and save another soul, one who deserves
To drink the wine of the Grail, I find it too sour
To drink from its cup. Find a soul who serves
Your gospel, and leave me to die at my hour
Why do you cling to me, carpenter? Why
Does your voice chase me still? And why
Do you not chastise me like you should?
Or just smite me, like you could?
Tell me, savior, did you cast your anchor
On the souls of the dying sons of mankind?
Or do you justify our torments, Carpenter
By saying that for us, you once had died?
Take up your tools, Carpenter
And build me a cross to bear
If you want to be my savior
Then at least help me repair
Not my sins towards the divine
But my wrongs towards mankind
And when I have the blessing of men
Only then,
Will I accept the pardon of Heaven
So leave me carpenter, and until then
Take your hammer and do your share
Build me, Savior, my cross to bear
