Five Birds
I wrote this poem for school homework.
Five Birds
Long, white wings spread wide in the air.
Flying free through crystal blue sky.
Diving to grab food from humans.
This is the gull.
Black feathers and a yellow beak.
Pulling up worms to feed itself.
Hopping beneath a bush in bloom.
This is the blackbird.
Bobbing on the water’s surface.
Turning upside-down to get food.
Quacking noisily between friends.
This is the duck.
Soaring over high mountaintops.
Golden eyes spotting prey below.
Diving fast, to kill, to survive.
This is the eagle.
Standing in the cold in smart suits.
Sliding over freezing cold ice.
Diving fast through such cold waters.
This is the penguin.
