Nearer to God

Nearer to God

It’s now or never,
for now is the time,
to write all your thoughts down
in word perfect rhyme.

In rhythm is beauty
as words all unfold,
to share all the stories
that you've never told.

No matter wherever,
with whom, or just when,
let all of your memories
just bleed from your pen.

For someone may read them
and share in your dreams,
and sharing and caring
is all that life means.

A poem is sacred
when spilled from the heart,
in giving and taking
we all play our part.

Let all world's religions
take note of these lines,
you'll find perfect harmony
only in rhymes.

Ivor G Davies

I would argue rhyme can be beautiful or ugly - like most devices - poetic or otherwise.

Religion in Rhyme ?

Muslim Catholic Christian Jew
Protestant, Islam whatever the name
It’s only the Isms parts that rhyme
Unless you know others that do…..

Anyone know of two religious groups that rhyme ?
"As in cheese rhymes with please"

Truth is nice, flow is nice. Eloquent, beautiful in simplicity.

I think that the writer is saying that there is no agreement in religion, but when we read poety we find a sense of agreement; we can come together on some level. I like this poem, true or false, it provokes thought. Well done.

Thank you all for the comments, City Girl, yes amongst other things especially that understanding can come from sharing with mankind.

Thanks Again,

Jew, Hindu. There you go, Fairplay.

The poem; it flows well, tight rhythm, the odd forced rhyme, but all in a fairly decent structure. The content, however, took too long to get to the point, and when it did it sneaked it around the back rather than bursting through the doors with both barrels blazing.

Zoroaster and Rasta any good fairplay?

Too long to get to the point is one way of putting it Pete, my reaction was that he'd spotted another way of saying it, it seemed as good, so he included it. Either way, although tidy, it's too long for the amount it says.
