Apple

I ate an apple today
And it told me
-Ouch
I’m sorry, but aren’t apples meant to be eaten?
It said in shocked disgust:
-Don’t you know who I am?
You were in my bag, a substitute for something better,
like a poptart.
-NO
I am
The great metaphor
The – of your eye
I’m schoolchildren and inner-city supply drives
Filthy farm trucks
And filthy rich Connecticutters who paid
To pick me
I am original-
Sincerely, Eve’s hope drenched fingers
Wrap around me to the core
Of sweat browed poets and playwrights easing my meaning in
RED and red and RED all over,
And read all over again,
Too green to understand
The nutritious trite and tried and true
Beaten eyeballs black and
Yellow
Because blue belongs to the sky.
At this point the apple stopped,
Because I had already begun to eat it
And as I flicked my wrist to toss the core,
It said in pulpy protest
-Flesh is flesh and yours is mine
Swings the BIG arc-ellipse of life-
Bends and straight straight lines
And ashes to ashes and lips to touch will
Hum quietly along in the compost.

Woe. I really liked this. That Apple's quite the talker. Nice.

Quite an original piece. I like the style and really like the closing line!

P.S I remember studying the photographer of your avatar. Who was it again? Or it looks very similar!

very original, like the major personification and the philosophy in this.
