The New Year


I'm so sick of these tired eyes
the constant habit of just getting by
and the realization that I'm immune
to being content with living a lie
I’m so sick of procrastination
put me to the test, I’ll fall for any distraction
and it breaks my heart to hear ignorant mouths tell me I can endure
when I know in my heart I'm their biggest failure

I’ve been screaming I want out
and I’ve been dying to move on
is this just coincidence or have I been right all along?

mark your calendars but the ink’s been fading
set your clocks but you’ll be sleeping in
half a year later and now I’m feeling
I need someone to help me ring it in
I need the new year to come quicker than it should
because I’ve got a resolution that needs to be heard
so to hell with tradition, let’s start this right here
join our hands and together we’ll ring in the new year
