I Can't Save Your Life

Well I’m fresh new face
with a million ideas
and pitch for each one.
My head’s full of terms.
I’m a walking, talking dictionary
and I can read you a mile away
before I have any idea of your name.
Like a fortune teller I peer.
Read each action and gesture
and rearrange you till your sane.

But somehow I took a left
when I should have veered right.
I saw God’s face before I saw faith.
In the thick of things I got thin
seeping through all the cracks.
When the time came to act
all of my ideas vanished,
I couldn't peer through insanity’s fog,
and the dictionary wouldn’t open.
I can’t save your life.

John2 is on a distinguished road
A good little poem about being over confident and then failing. Like the way the first and second stanzes contrast. Good images.

Cheers,

John
