Buddy is on a distinguished road
White Face

Written last night while thinking to myself, "Wouldn't it be great if I could skateboard by moonlight on Valentine's day?" If you didn't see it, the moon was full and bright last night.

Bright light
wreathed in white,
briefly subsiding
my monthly
plight.
To this day,
an unsurpassed sight.

Always glowing, never showing
any trace of beauty flowing
away from his
cratered face
all-knowing.
Smiling on a world that
is never slowing.

Silhouetting my dreary setting
with the light he's shedding,
while on its
natural beauty never
treading.
The night he hides,
I am dreading.

A trite sight
bathed in light,
making me pray
for a longer
night.
Sending my soul
soaring in flight.

-Bud.

A wonderful stanza, I especially enjoyed the ending (Smiling on a world that/is never slowing); it provokes a reflection upon this world we live in. The one part I did not quite understand was "The night he hides/I am dreading". The poem is, in general, peaceful, yet this adds a sense of foreboding. Just my own two cents.

The thought of skateboarding by moonlight has never occurred to me, although I liked the imagery put forth by it. I like the way this poem gives us a break from the hectic world, directing our attention towards the moon, moving slowly across the sky...
