Respecting Stupidity

I don't.
Sorry.
A religion that tries to force its stupid rules
on the rest of the world
deserves respect?
I don't think so.
A religion that makes rules
expecting non-believers to follow them
is tyrannical.
I don't respect tyrants.
A religion that tries to bully respect
with beatings and burnings and kidnappings
is a bully.
I don't respect bullies.
I don't respect religions because they are religions.
That is stupid.
I respect actions of kindness, courage, love, poetry,
goodness and humour.
I respect intelligence.

Stupidity has so many forms.
Holier than thou is the ugliest of these,
whatever the religion.

JR.
I fully agree with the sentiments, but it reads more like a paragraph than a poem.

You're totally right JB. Good sentiments. Dubious poem. Just wanted to say something on the subject. Thanks for commenting.
