Where did it all go?
I watched pristine forests reduced to hills of stumps,
I saw scenic Texas deserts turn to seas of oil pumps.
The ice packs are shrinking, as is the ozone layer,
I think that we should take a knee and say a little prayer.
God made glorious mountains full of evergreens and pine,
He put them there to be enjoyed by families like mine.
He carved great Texas deserts for livestock to roam free,
but mankind is so greedy, he’s just too blind to see.
You keep abusing everything that’s put here to enjoy,
do you think this planet is just some grown-up toy?
If you have a bowl of candy that you keep eating from,
don’t you know eventually the candy will be gone?
Armies have reserves to replace those that they lose,
but if you have no feet, what good are brand new shoes?
Keep cutting lumber, drilling oil, and never use your head,
and then start asking why when you find the planet’s dead.

Nice psycho, flows well to an inevitable ending. edit note: 'loose' should be 'lose'. It's the resiliency of the planet that amazes me. There are signs of hope, that China has managed to control its population growth, is huge. cheers

awww. jr caught it before i could.
*pouts*
i like these kind of poems you write. you're kind of like the 'i told you so' guy before the fact has actually happened. not that i would ever dream you'd be one for saying 'i told you so'. *grin* anyway, from one tree-hugger to a wonderful poet, good job.
*hugs*

hello .. I'm wondering about where the 'feet' went. This was the only part of the poem that seemed a bit out of pace. *pun*
