thanks for coming to read.

if you look closely, you'll find j.r. and i post one haiku a day each, both of them drawn from the same book. we're always looking for more to join us, as it is proving delightful, entertaining and most importantly, a fantastic way to hone writing skills.

damn, where's that link to the haiku a day thread...?

ta-da! go here, if you're interested.

I want to say I like this but I have to confess I don't quite get what is going on - what is a work heavy mother? I seem to have missed the connection that will make sense of the baby watching bugs...

I have had this feeling before when reading haiku that is translated from Japanese, but it is unusual to see it in english-only

It rolls nicely though.

ah, yes, i was a little worried about the one line about the mother and then no relation back to her at all. in the picture, the baby is strapped to the mother's back as she is working in the fields. the baby is staring at the plants, eyes aglow with wonder. thanks for coming by to read and thanks for asking.

of course, Tibetan ones, but they are very close to the ground so you can't see them in the picture.
