Two Poems
Hi, everyone. I have to choose between the following two poems to read for a chance to be in a "Poetry Slam". If you could just name which one you like best, and give me some advice on one or both, that would be great.
Here they are:
Chaos (working title)
I stand, still as bated breath
but inside I am hurtling around a point of reality.
Roaming lights paint my face,
using their medium of truth, while
the crevices in my brow
tell the story of denial.
I clutch my head
to cure the headache that
anarchy has caused,
and that one simple touch
brings me back
to face the confusion.
(untitled)
I sat on the hot concrete,
staring down at my scraped knees
trying to ignore the tiny rocks leaving
pinpricks in my skin.
Her voice was a fresh summer breeze
on my cheek,
but for once I didn't want to listen.
The words escaping her locked lips
weren't the ones I wanted to hear,
and I knew that if I didn't
open up to her voice,
this sick feeling buried in my stomach
would leave.
She lifted my chin, forcing me to
peer into those deceptive mirrors
disguised as eyes.
And then I knew;
that sick feeling was Truth.
Thanks!
