Blank Postcard from the Harbor

By the grasses grey scrub to the waters mud gash
cloaking mallards in shadowed brown somnabulance

Bustling closely in homage to the cypress nude streaks
before gulls watchful guard in their common distrust

Rippling green into brown into carbon steel blue
shining white in the temper of crabbers broad skiffs

Under cottages nestled into burgeoning pines
tapered onward through forests of needle thin masts

Where the carillons toll bouys faithful observance
while the magpie hurls jeers as a blasphemed rejoiner

Pressing close into place under bleached white blue china
wisping tissues of smoke across unblemished polish

Through the salt of the season where the sourness sweetens
into solitude walking past unending measure

Penelope is an unknown quantity at this point
When so much care has been taken to present images I am always impressed. This is beautiful poetry. The title is great too - almost like these are postcards purchased because of their beauty and are waiting to be mailed.

Wow. I'm envious. Great job with the imagery--this was beautiful.

I thank you both for your words.

I am fortunate that I work across the street from a harbor,
sometimes, I go across and sit and there is a hypnotic quality to the sky and the ocean.

It's like trying to think of something to write on a postcard but you're distracted by the scenery.
