I Do Not Know You

These tears deceive me,
running down my face
with such ease,
without any permission.

I don't even know you,
your face brings no memory.
What will your eyes see
when no longer seeing me?

Your image blurred...
for a second,
I quickly wipe away
the sting.

I stare more intently
for a glimmer of recognition.
I find only disgust
and fail to meet your eyes

Your image is slipping now
my heart skips a beat
You're leaving and I'm glad,
but scared to death too.

The pills I gave you
have now worked their deed.
This mirror fades away,
...as do I.

The poem was about somebody looking at themselves in a mirror while overdosing then slowly dying. It is a play on inner reflection and outer reflection.

Thank you for your kind comment
