A Child's Wish

Sitting by the fireplace with slippers on his feet
waiting for the snow to melt, outside upon the street.
Stoking up the yule logs to try to get more heat,
and listening to the carols while enjoying something sweet.

Grandpa puffs his pipe while grandma does the tree,
hanging all the ornaments for everyone to see.
You can smell her apple pie and of course the roast turkey,
and even Christmas cookies for my big brother and me.

The presents have been opened, there’s wrappings everywhere
and grandma smiles, pretending that she doesn’t even care.
All the smells of Christmas are drifting through the air,
And boughs of holly decorate the railing on the stairs.

It’s always such a joyful time, and always brings a tear,
I wish we could have Christmas every morning of the year.
And Santa flying to and fro with his magical reindeer
wishing a merry Christmas and spreading that good cheer.

Very nice, I like this one, seeing how I love the winter time, and it's almost that time.

A couple suggestions though, they might help, might not.

Instead of the line "the big turkey" you could say "the plump turkey", cause you use big in the next line, if you know what I mean.

"flying around" could be something like "flying to and fro".

Cheers, merry christmas , even though it's almost halloween.

Thanks again Ms.V.
The Ben, good ideas, I liked roast better than plump though, and I also had to drop "Claus" to make to and fro fit the meter. Thanks
