Silences

This moment is full of silences in my head.
Outside we pretend
we are kids again, with our rules and
secrets only shared with best friends.
Laughter is echoed through the walls
but only two people are invited
to join in.

This moment is filled with silences
never heard before.
On a hard day's work of school
we wait for the bus, and on that bus
there is no life
only closed space; getting
tighter and tighter until
a ding is heard and
someone gets off, leaving
everything they've learned
in that closed
space.

No one remembers that as close
as they were on that bus
on that fateful
day,
they were nothing but empty air
blocking the illusion
that is life
outside.

hummmmmm... interesting poem... I'd like to take a stab at the meaning, but I'm afraid that I'm probably wrong... may you elaborate?

The first part of the poem focuses on people around my age (15). We hate to follow rules and yet we have our own rules for friendships.

What I'm basically saying in the middle and end is that we only care about ourselves and all of that self-centered focus will one day end in consequences.

Or it could mean thatwe leave things behind and never go back to them because at that moment in time we never knew what could have been.
