we are experiencing technical difficulties

we are experiencing technical difficulties
(please stand by)

masters of obfuscation
gather in gaggles
as cameras go live
mikes are aimed
so, lies, excuses, alibis
can bury all traces of reality

while the poor by the tens of thousands
go on waiting, starving, sickening
and dying
on the streets of America
forgotten
on roofs and bridges and in
looter-beleaguered, forgotten hospitals
of a once-proud city in America

and newsfolk who dare to
speak
ask embarrassing questions
and show the truth
are lectured
taken to task
for not giving credit where due!

[as one of my kids was wont to say, "Gag me with a spoon," fellas!]

i don't live there any more, either, sparx... i'm happy to be in canada, where i can get news from cbc and bbc... it helps to know how the rest of the world sees what goes on in what is one of the most insular/insulated countries on the planet...

I'm moving to Germany soon.
Regards,
Skylor

Oh, I like the poem too. I didn't mean to take it off topic. The thing is that even the news has become a form of entertainment now. I try to avoid television and radio as much as possible mostly because it only manages to make me want to throw up. I don't think that it is outright lies. I think it is just manipulated truth. I'm not sure if it is that much better in other countries. I just want to go somewhere where it can't distract me. I'm just rambling now. I think that says something about what you wrote though. It seems to have hit a nerve.

i can't rele comment, all so good. Love the subject matter. It was truth. i hate it when people hide the truth.

thanks, poe and cinn!

for more stern, motherly chiding/messages, check out the katrina section of my site... and all the rest of the work there... exposing unpopular truths is the purpose of all i write... plus, there are many more of the same sort of my poems on the back pages here, if you don't want to go far...

love and hugs, m
