It's an awfully small excerpt to make anything out of it. Can you post more, or is that the only bit that's poetry? Perhaps you could post a larger section (including this part) in the Critique forum?

You can post the linked poem here as well. I had just assumed that since you said book, you meant prose. Sloppy reading on my part.
