When disasters strike abroad
we are always there.
with food and clothes and money
to show the world we care.
But now it’s on the other foot
disaster’s here at home,
and it seems to me that
we’re facing it alone.

I haven’t heard a thing about
foreign offers of aid,
maybe we should take another
look at friends we’ve made.
We have millions with no home
or water safe to drink;
have other countries offered help?
It really makes you think.

Hundreds here have died,
maybe thousands when it’s through,
and none of our good friends
have asked what they can do?
Has England offered water?
Has Russia offered cots?
Has anyone sent blankets
to cover the small tots?

I hope the next time they need help
we’ll still do what we can,
God blesses those who always try
to help their fellow man.

but...

i watch bbc and cbc, as well as cnn non-stop, and other nations [canada, uk, germany, among others] HAVE offered their help and did so almost immediately... but, we all know a Texas he-man cain't admit he needs help, now can he???

Must've been a a very back burner, cause none of the news shows I've watched have mentioned a word about any outside offers.

being in canada, i get cbc and bbc... and i keep cnn on all day in between, so have caught just about every word that's been said so far... it's no surprise that american channels haven't made a point of mentioning the foreign offers, since bush's people haven't accepted any...

canada has assembled troops and emergency services and they're on standby, in case the idiots in charge down there ever admit they're clueless and undermanned and need help...

Wayne good poem structure and flow. I did hear last night and this morning on Fox News and MSNBC that Russia, UK, Israel, Australia, France and other countries have offered support in any way we need it. I know Australia already donated 10,000,000 dollars which is equivalent to 8,000,000.00 American dollars. I for one am very grateful. Lord knows we can use all the help we can get.

what's so truly shameful, is that bush hasn't availed himself of all the expert help that's out there just waiting to be accepted... tell me the netherlands wouldn't be the best place to go for help with a dike break!
